Waterjet propulsion units are being increasingly used on the larger types of luxury yachts. In these systems the water intake and transom areas are particularly vulnerable to corrosion pitting which can weaken the tunnel which operates under heavy mechanical stress.

With their strong background of technical expertise, Cathelco have designed the Jettek system, a unique and highly effective impressed current cathodic protection ICCP package. This has major advantages in comparison with sacrificial anodes which may not deliver sufficient protection to the waterjet intake ducts in order to eliminate corrosion. It is also more effective than methods primarily based on 'isolation', although Cathelco can provide sophisticated monitoring devices for any type of system.
