Box cooler anti-fouling systems

Cathelco Blokland Box Cooler Anti-fouling System

System with suspended anode

System with anode mounted on seachest.

  • More even distribution of copper ions along length of box cooler.
  • Anode mounted in seachest and totally submerged.
  • Can be supplied as complete unit involving less installation work.

Greater effectiveness in eliminating bio-fouling in box coolers

Cathelco and Blokland Non-Ferro have combined their expertise to produce a new box cooler anti-fouling system which is easier to install and more effective in operation.

The new anti-fouling unit containing the anode is attached to the base of the box cooler on a framework. In use, a current is passed to the anode from a control panel resulting in the production of copper ions.

These are delivered directly beneath the cooling tubes where they prevent mussel and barnacle larvae from settling and growing.

This is an important advance on original box cooler installations where the anode was inserted through the seachest plate. The new system means fewer seachest penetrations and less installation work, whilst ensuring effective and reliable protection against bio-fouling.
